The Ferry only runs from mid May to mid October
When/How to get to the Ferry
If you are coming from or through southern Ontario from mid May to
mid October you can catch
the Chi-Cheemaun Ferry in Tobermory; otherwise, take the bridge on to
the island.
From Toronto the time to get to the cottage is pretty
much the same whether you take the ferry or the bridge. The ferry
provides a break in driving, and less actual driving time. The
Chi-Cheemaun is an experience in itself for those who have never done it
before. There is a restaurant on the ferry. The crossing
usually takes just under 2 hours.
Remember to print the directions both to the ferry and
then from South Baymouth to the cottage.

General Directions (in case Google Maps doesn't help)
Sometimes Google Maps makes things more complicated than it needs to as
it breaks out the street names in every little town instead of simply
saying "stay on Highway 6". Once you make it to Highway 6 just
keep going north, following the signs for Highway 6 until it leads you
to the Chi-Cheemaun Ferry Dock.
From Toronto you take Highway 10 North to Highway 6 North and follow the
signs to Tobermory and then the
signs to the Ferry. From west of Toronto you take Highway 6 North
(which meets the 401 near Guelph). Once on the island follow the
