Sunrise

Great Sunrises! At the shore you can capture great sunrises. The property is on the south shore of a small bay within a very large lake. Standing on the shoreline you face almost directly north (very slightly to the west). Look towards the open lake in the morning and you'll enjoy fantastic sunrises if the conditions are right.

Sunset

Great sunsets! To the west of the property you see the small secluded bay that the property sits on.

Bench along Trail

There is a small trail along the shore line. In some areas are spots to sit and enjoy the water. (this is out front of the White Pine Vista (original) cottage

Canoe On Shore

The canoe pulled on to the cedar treed shore. The shore line of the property is mainly covered in trees, mostly cedar. There is a cleared area by the dock. The shoreline is over 1300' in length and very eclectic. Parts of the shore line are more level (near the docks of both cottages). Parts of the shore line are more bluff like. (This photo is near the dock for the White Pine Vista Cottage).

Picnic Table by Water

There are a number of spots to sit and enjoy the lake on the property. This one (the picnic table is out front, and belongs to, the White Pine Vista Cottage) has a good view of the lake and gets great sunshine in the morning. A good spot to enjoy a morning coffee. The Cedar View Cottage has similar settings.

Open Field

The property is 55+ acres and very eclectic. About 15 acres is a wide open field. At the back of the property is a bluff area (about 100 feet tall (10 acreas). The rest of the property is a mix of forest (all types of trees, mainly cedar). Guests should feel free to wander the property and enjoy nature.

Shoreline

The shore line from the White Pine Vista dock. The property runs about 900 feet west of this dock. Mostly treed with a trail and a few nice areas and benches to view the lake. This picture was taken before the newer cottage dock was in place, it would now appear about 450 feet down the shore line. Still much further away than your closest neighbour at most lakes.

Shoreline East

This is the shoreline as viewed from the dock facing eastward out towards the main body of the lake. (from the White Pine Vista Cottage)

Entrance to Property

A long winding laneway takes you to the cottage. Always a pleasant drive or walk but it gets absolutely stunning in the fall when the leaves change. You can see views of the lane at different times of the year by clicking on the appropriate season photo gallery link.

Laneway

The laneway in to the property is quite long. It provides for a great walk out to the main road around dusk. It is a great walk at any time but around dusk, or sunrise you are more likely to see deer or some other smaller animal wandering across the laneway.

Lake Bottom

Swimming at the cottage is in clear/clean (this picture shows the bottom of the lake off the side of the dock - about 6' deep) water with a lime stone bottom. If you must have sand for swimming then this isn't the place. There is a gorgeous sand beach just over 20 minutes away by car. Near the dock the water starts out shallow and reaches about 8' deep at the end of the dock (40' from shore). The lake is much deeper further out. Closer in the shore larger flat sections of stone are found.

Deer

Two large does checking out the cottage from the edge of the forest at the east end of the property

Fawn

This little guy wandered right up to the back of the cottage along the area cut for the hydro line. The hydro clearance is a great spot to look for deer as it gives them a nice path to walk.

Nature At Every Turn

For the nature lover the property is full of delights, from the trees, and flowers to the deer and weasels who live there.

Brown Moth

Just another example of nature

Green Moth

These guys actually get fairly big. In general the insects are non intrusive. However, if you specifically go looking you'll find an abundance of critters that call the property and island home. END OF PICTURES TAKEN ON THE PROPERTY.

Bridlevale Falls

At the opposite end of the lake is the town of Kagawong and Bridlevale Falls. About a 1/2 drive from the cottage. There are some hiking trails around the waters edge and the town itself has a few touristy shops to browse through.

South Baymouth

You can get on and off the island either by ferry or bridge. The ferry runs spring through fall. The cottage is a 45 minute to 1 hour drive away from here. At night you should drive below the speed limit and watch very carefully that you don't hit any deer.

Providence Bay

At Providence Bay there is a very large public beach. Just over a 20 minute drive from the cottage.

Cup & Saucer Trail

This is one of the lookouts of the Cup & Saucer Trail. About a 45 minute drive from the cottage. If you like hiking and have an extra half day this is a must do trail. You can see for miles once you reach the top.

C & S View 2

Another of the spectacular views from the Cup & Saucer Trail. Unrelated to this picture, but certain parts of the trail allow more adventurous types to climb through caves and in to crevices.

Final C & S View

This is the final view that I'll show. When you actually walk the trail there a numerous wonderful views. This is part of the Niagara Escarpment that runs from Niagara Falls up through Tobermory and across to Manitoulin Island.
