The Ferry only runs from mid May to mid October
(other times of year you must take the swing bridge in Little Current, or fly in)
If you are coming from, or through, southern Ontario from mid May to mid October you can catch the Chi-Cheemaun Ferry in Tobermory; otherwise, take the bridge on to the island.
From Toronto the time to get to the cottage is pretty much the same whether you take the ferry or the bridge. The ferry provides a break in driving, and less actual driving time. The Chi-Cheemaun is an experience in itself for those who have never done it before. There is a restaurant on the ferry. The crossing usually takes just under 2 hours.
For information on Ferry rates, and times, please see the Chi-Cheemaun website.
Remember to print the directions both to the ferry and then from South Baymouth to the cottage.
